My C30 had an aluminum insert on the shift knob and the top rim of the steering wheel underneath the leather. In the summer it was nearly undrive able until I swapped out the knob for a cheap plastic and leather version and learned to drive with my hands at the bottom of the wheel until it cooled off.

You trying to remove your palm? It’s hot in the summers in Denver.

Did the same thing with a lone kid’s glove I found a few years ago in a parking lot. It happened to be just the right size for the black aluminum shift knob I had in my NC,
so one quick wash later and it became a regular summer accessory for that car.

As a Seattle resident this was rarely an issue.
Which means it definitely caught me by surprise the few times it did happen in my 350z.

in colorado it had a little treat in store for me in winter too, my hand briefly stuck to the knob in super cold weather

This is why I prefer a CVT with push button selector. One touch and I don’t have to worry about it. No shifting during driving needed as well
If it’s not easy or lazy , it’s not the American way.

I’ve removed a sock that I was wearing to cover the shift knob. My date was horrified.

if you mean my ingenuity and sense of self preservation, sure
my feet are hardly the worst smelling part of my body so it was probably best for everyone that it ended that way ...
